Kalgoorlie Rocks!

It’s bigger than Pokemon Go!

After learning about this new worldwide ‘hide and seek’ game, local facepainting artist ‘Super Sarah’ has made the hunt super easy and anyone can join in. Paint and hide rocks in parks around Kalgoorlie Boulder and then share with the 500+ member group what you’ve found and where!

Sarah  and Sammie are the moderators for the KB Rocks Facebook group which helps explain the craze. If you do not have access to paints and rocks, pop into Super Sarah and Friends plastercraft store on Burt St and for a small fee, you can use the equipment there and get involved.

Heartwalk

The first large scale public art project of it’s kind in Kalgoorlie, Heartwalk has brought our CBD to life with vibrant murals by professional artists from the Goldfields and beyond. You can grab your Heartwalk map online, from the Kalgoorlie Boulder Visitor centre or a number of CBD outlets including Relish and Black Crow Studios.

The entire 3km trail is best enjoyed over a couple of hours, with breaks for morning tea and lunch to keep your energy levels up! Taking the tour on bicycle is a great way to cover more ground in less time and a perfect activity for those crisp, sunny winter days.

Dreamcatchers, Catapults, Minibeasts and Slime!

Sounds a bit like an alternate version of ‘What Little Boys and Girls are made of’.

Offered by the William Grundt Memorial Library and the Goldfields War Museum, there are four workshops available, make a dreamcatcher, a slime stress ball,  build a catapult or make a butterfly terrarium, for ages 6+ and only cost $3 each to attend.  Here’s a link to the full flyer explaining the dates, workshop locations and how to book your spot.

Check out the Museum’s website for full details of these low cost activities.
