Eskimo Joe, Gallery Exhibitions and Independent Films make up just some of What’s On in Kalgoorlie Boulder this May.
There’s less than one month to go until the opening of Kalgoorlie Boulder’s favourite week long Arts & Culture celebration, the ArtGold Heart of Gold festival.
Can’t wait that long for an arts and culture fix?
You don’t have to….welcome to non-stop entertainment May!
Goldfields Arts Centre
The ‘A Year in the Making’ Gallery exhibition is free to view between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday. This exhibition has been a collaborative effort by 12 Australian up and coming and established jewellery artists. Given different themes such as ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ and ‘Seeing the Unseen’ the resulting display of necklaces, brooches and rings are beautiful and suprising.

Goldfields Film Harvest
Now in it’s second year, Goldfields Film Harvest has consistently delivered independant and art house films every Wednesday at Orana Cinema for our viewing pleasure. The line-up for May is another diverse, enthralling and thought provoking collection with films from all over the world.
We’re looking forward to seeing A Bigger Splash on May 11th. Think rock stars, sexual tension and an exotic location. Featuring the brilliant Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes and the beautiful Dakota Johnson, this film won awards at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival in 2015.
For the full May line up check out the Film Harvest Facebook page
Keeping on topic with big screen entertainment, Kalgoorlie Boulder will be welcoming back Flickerfest. Now in it’s 25th year, this national tour will bring to KB two screenings for both adults and kids at the Kalgoorlie Town Hall.
Tickets are available at the door.
Eleven 13 Session
Live & Local.
Sums up the Eleven 13 Sessions pretty well we think. Bringing together two fave’s – live entertainment and quirky urban spaces – the goal is to inspire the audience with tunes played by local artists in places you might not normally associate with music appreciation.
The first Eleven 13 Session will be held at the WA Museum of Kalgoorlie-Boulder on May 15th. You can purchase tickets here. Don’t forget your bean bag!
RFDS Open Day
Servicing a third of Western Australia, The Kalgoorlie Royal Flying Doctor Service base has a big job to do!
Join us on Saturday the 14th of May from 10am to 1:30pm, this is an all ages event where you can check out the history of our RFDS Base, speak with the Doctors, Nurses and Pilots of this critical service and if it’s on the ground, view the medically equipped aircraft which we’re so thankful for.
Local stalls, food and drink and the opportunity to win a signed West Coast Eagles football complete the day!
More info here.
What began as a small backyard celebration for women supporting local causes has exploded into 500 plus women-only celebration held at the Kalgoorlie Boulder Race Course on Saturday May 14th.
This annual fundraiser is an opportunity to let your hair down, pop on your bedazzled gumboots and hit the dance floor!
We’re not quite sure when the gumboots came to be requisite attire but be prepared, there’s some great prizes on offer for those who dazzle up their boots and get dressed up including a $5000 travel voucher!
Every year tickets sell out fast and we’re expecting this year to be no different. Tickets are available from Live Footage on Hannan Street.
The Heart of Gold Festival
The pièce de résistance of the Kalgoorlie Boulder arts & culture annual calendar!
The Heart of Gold Festival includes live entertainment, workshops and exhibitions. You can grab a copy of the program here
Don’t forget to check out the We♥KB festival inclusion – our LOVE exhibition.
Over the past 5 months members of the Kalgoorlie Boulder community have shared with us what they love about living in our dusty regional city. Captured on camera by talented local photographers, our photographic LOVE exhibition on display at the Artgold headquarters, 28 Burt Street, for the duration of the festival.
If you’ve missed out on being a part of the exhibition and would still like to share your experience upload a pic of yourself to your fave Social Media platform using #welovekb to let us know what you love about living in Kalgoorlie Boulder.
It’s a feel good showcase and we’re sure you’ll agree with the responses!
