The goldfields paints a wonderful backdrop for striking and sometimes sentimental images. Photographer Clair Stanton captured her cousin Jane wearing her mother Carmel’s wedding dress, matched with ankle boots and a shocking pink crown of bougainvillea for a bohemian vibe. Photographer Jade Clift expertly styles the shoots for her own Black Octave Clothing streetwear label featuring local models in gorgeous goldfields locations.
Designer Ellenmary Potts worked with Melissa Drummond photography to capture her stylish friend and business partner Alison O’Toole modelling EM Potts & Co’s debut designs. Alison’s own home on Elizabeth Street provided an elegant backdrop to the label’s debut lookbook – Once the residence of former US President Herbert Hoover, our little Loopline Tram often tootles past the stately home as part of it’s daily tours!
Our own Georgia Foulkes-Taylor said it best: “We are in an exceptionally unique location in Kalgoorlie Boulder, and I think this is to our huge advantage in the creative world. I have always believed creativity is a response, and there is so much to respond to in our region. We have this gorgeous landscape surrounding the city – hardly five minutes out of town – and some brilliant creatives inside the town to make great projects happen. I can’t wait to see what KALFW inspires, because I think there’s a heap of untapped potential in the Kalgoorlie creatives scene.”
