Are you the type up for a good Craic? Read on below to see what’s on in Kalgoorlie Boulder this St. Patrick’s Day
In 2018, the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder celebrates the 125th Anniversary since gold was discovered in the area. Was it the luck of the Irish that led prospectors Paddy Hannan, Thomas Flanagan and Daniel Shea to strike it rich in 1893?
Go green this St. Patrick’s Day with friends and family as venues and community groups across Kalgoorlie Boulder celebrate their Irish roots with activities and specials on food and beverages to get you into such a great mood you’ll be doing a jig!
PADDY’S BAR & RESTAURANT
Paddy’s is Kalgoorlie’s quintessential Irish Bar (it’s all in the name) is the hotspot for meeting with friends and getting your craic on either inside or out on the recently refurbished patio deck. Make sure you book a table or dine casual next door at the Exchange Hotel – there is a live band and specials on Guinness all night long! Full menu available from 11am with the kitchen open until late.
3B BOUTIQUE BAR
On the menu at 3B Boutique Bar are over 100 beers from around the world! It’s only fitting that this Boulder venue put on a show for everyone’s favourite international celebration. The shaded beer garden is an ideal spot to pull up with your pint of imported Guinness (it’s the real deal) and appreciate the smooth tunes of Miss Lee & Toni from Jammin with Charlie. Get as lucky as a leprechaun with a four leaf clover by entering the Best Dressed Comp and sate those tastebuds with nibbles from the menu or the free sausage sizzle. Doors open at 10am.
THE ALBION “SHAMROCK” HOTEL
Whilst in Boulder, it’s only polite to check out the original Irish Bar on the Burt Street strip. Complete with salad bar, the Albion “Shamrock” hotel is a popular restaurant offering big meals for really reasonable prices. It’s a favourite with Kalgoorlie Boulder families for entertainment, good tucker and the family-friendly dining room, complete with
distractions a play area for the kids. Check out the specials from the attached bottle shop if you’re keen to celebrate at home.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY IN THE PARK
Members of the KB Irish community along with the Eastern Goldfields Historical Society are going all out this St. Patrick’s Day in Kalgoorlie Boulder and the best bit is, it’s an all-ages event so even leprechaun-sized littlies can celebrate too! Join in the festivities at Hammond Park between 3pm and 6pm and don’t forget to come dressed to impress for a chance to win a prize!
Meet with Saint Patrick himself, otherwise known as Ranger Red, as he shows off his snake wrangling skills and impressive collection of native Australian animals. “Clover” the crafty leprechaun will have an activity station for children to make their own treasure hunting bucket and paint some themed plastercrafts.
There will be a sausage sizzle available and Plum Cafe will be open for the usual delicious menu, drinks and ice creams.
There’s a whole bunch of games and entertainment so we suggest checking out this link to the event to learn more.
KNOCK OUT POKER TOURNAMENT
We’re making a tenuous link to St. Patrick’s Day here…but hey! It’s a new, fun event on in town that we wanted to help promote.

GO GREEN AT SPEEDWAY
If all of the above is just not your thing and you haven’t snaffled a ticket to the Goldfields Children’s Charity Ball there’s always Speedway! Get a bunch of friends and family together with a picnic and get trackside from 7pm at the Kalgoorlie International Speedway. Tickets begin at only $20 per adult with discounts for families. There’s a full bar available and canteen with hot and cold items on the menu. Plus, if you dress in green there’s the chance to win some awesome prizes.
This is a local meet with Kalgoorlie Boulder enthusiasts seeking to better their skills and beat their record times around the track. You can show your support and cheer on the junior division drivers (and future champs) on the night.
