There are officially three days and four sleeps until December. This means there are only three Fridays left before Christmas which lands on the fourth Friday of December. This also means it is time to get into the Christmas spirit.
If you are anything like me, I’m a bit of a fan of Christmas, largely because my birthday is two days after, but also because it is time to celebrate with friends, family, co-workers, the weird guy next door, really whomever will raise a glass to the end of another year. And after this year, who wouldn’t?
Community togetherness is at its best during December with Kalgoorlie-Boulder hosting several festive events.
The Christmas season kicks off this weekend with the 12th annual Christmas Street Party at its new location in Boulder.
“The 2020 Lighting of the Christmas Tree and Christmas Street Party has been planned for Boulder to allow for works being undertaken as part of the Footpath Replacement Program and Kal City Centre Project,” a City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder spokesperson explained.
From 5.30pm on Sunday there will be live entertainment, food vans, crafts and activities for the kids in Loopline Park and the Boulder business precinct.
“This year the Street Party will feature a range of fantastic stalls, food trucks and alfresco dining areas, local entertainment on stage in Loopline Park, kids activities and some big games, topped off by the Lighting of the Christmas Tree,” the spokesperson said.
Of course, you can’t have a Christmas party without Santa and his right-hand gal, Mrs Claus. Bring the kids for a photo with the big guy and his bride at Santa’s Grotto.
Relax in the shade and enjoy a takeaway while the kids run and play in the cool grass of Loopline Park before the much-anticipated moment when the Christmas tree comes aglow. The lighting ceremony will take place at 7.30pm.
