The popular fortnightly Sunset at the Soundshell concert series hosted by the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder is a celebration of live music and pays tribute to popular bands and is supported by local musicians.
Read on to learn how to make the most of your night across the upcoming concerts to be held at the Centennial Park Soundshell on Great Eastern Highway in Kalgoorlie Boulder this Summer.
The support acts begin at 6:30pm. Get in early to claim your spot on the grass before the concert begins. You can also stock up on food and drink at one of the many food vendors before the music starts.
There’s ample parking next to Centennial Park and along Great Eastern Highway but when we’re talking 3000 people or more you might like to consider carpooling with friends or having a designated driver doing runs back and forth.
Bring with you:
- Picnic blanket and/or camping chairs
- An eski for your cool drinks and snacks
- A rug or jumper for when the sun goes down (or even a poncho if this weather keeps up!)
- Your singing voice and dancing shoes!
PACK A PICNIC:
Whilst there are many food and drink stalls staffed by local food vendors and not for profit groups, think sausage sizzles, poffertjes or brownie kebabs, there is the possibility of a line. Pack yourself a picnic of crackers, cheese and fruit to starve off the hunger before lining up. The park and concerts have a BYO license so you can bring alcoholic beverages. For the safety of yourself and those around you it’s best to avoid glass and go for plastic or cans.
SING YOUR HEART OUT:
C’mon! You know the words!
Three out of four concerts this Summer are bands you know and love and you know the lyrics! Don’t be afraid to sing along to your favourites. We’re all there to have fun and in such a big crowd, no-one will know it’s you anyway.
(the other performance is one your kids might know. Nathaniel from Australian X-Factor performs on March 11th)
The Sunset at the Soundshell concert series are hosted by the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder purely for our enjoyment. We’d hate for anyone to miss out on these fantastic family orientated events so share the details with your friends and family! You can send an invitation via the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder Facebook events page or send them the link to this article.
As these concerts are for all ages, you of course can bring your kids! Ensure their comfort with rugs and a pillow in case the party goes past bedtime. Consider writing your phone number on a wristband or on their arm. If anybody gets separated make your way up to the side of the stage and City of Kalgoorlie Boulder staff will assist you. Littlies might also feel more comfortable with a pair of earmuffs.
We hope you enjoy these free concerts as much as we do! Don’t forget amongst all of the fun and frivolities to dispose of your rubbish thoughtfully. All children under 18 must be accompanied by adult and yup, for everyone’s enjoyment, these concert are smoke free.
